Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor celebrated its 35th Annual Day, National Youth Day, and Vivekananda Jayanti on 29th March 2025.
The celebration took place in the school premises from 5 p.m. onwards and saw the participation of over 1,400 people, including students, parents, and teachers.
Sri S.K. Subramanian ji, the Correspondent of the school, presided over the programme. Shri K. Venkatesh, B.E., Deputy Superintendent of Police, Vallioor Zone, was the Chief Guest, and Shri S. Ayyappan ji, Tamil Nadu Prant Sah Sangathak and Secretary of VK-RDP, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, graced the event as the Special Guest.
The programme commenced with the Deepa Prajwalan (ceremonial lighting of the lamp) by the Chief Guest Shri Venkatesh ji, Special Guest Shri Ayyappan ji, Correspondent Shri S.K. Subramanian ji, and Principal Smt. S. Esakkiammal @ Devi.
Following this, a prayer song was rendered by the students. The Welcome Address was delivered by Smt. Sethulakshmi, followed by the Annual Report presented by the Principal, Smt. S. Esakkiammal @ Devi.
Students who excelled in academics and extracurricular activities were honoured with prizes. The awards were distributed by the Chief Guest, Special Guest, Correspondent, and Principal. Smt. S. Sowmiya, a teacher, read out the names of the achievers.
In his address, Chief Guest Shri K. Venkatesh praised the school's hospitality and conducted a few interactive games for parents, emphasizing individual effort and teamwork, much to the delight of the audience. He also spoke about the crucial role of parents and teachers in instilling discipline in students.
Special Guest Shri Ayyappan ji then delivered an eloquent speech on Swami Vivekananda, highlighting the importance of education and the need for active parental involvement in a child’s development.
A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by the Correspondent, Special Guest, and Principal.
The event continued with cultural performances, beginning with a traditional Bharatanatyam dance, followed by various dances and a drama performed by the students. The programme was conducted bilingually in Tamil and English by teachers Shri M. Bharathi Raja and Shri B. Srinivasa Perumal.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Smt. M. Sasireha, and the celebration concluded with the Kendra Prayer.
