Dasara Celebrations in Tumkur, Karnataka are vibrant and culturally significant, reflecting the spirit of the larger Dasara festivities observed across Karnataka.

This year, the Tumkur Dasara Samiti organized a variety of cultural programs to mark the auspicious occasion of Dasara. The Mallakhamba team from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kallubalu (Dakshin Prant, Karnataka Vibhag) was specially invited by the organizing committee to perform Mallakhamba at the event.

A team of 39 members from VKV Kallubalu, comprising 32 students, 5 alumni, and 2 teachers, attended the event. On the evening of 7th October 2024, the VKV Kallubalu Mallakhamba team enthralled the audience with a stunning performance. The students demonstrated the traditional art forms of Stambha Mallakhamba (pole) and Rope Mallakhamba, executing graceful and challenging yoga postures that combined strength, flexibility, and control. Their synchronized movements and agility left the audience in awe.

The performance was not only a showcase of physical skill but also a reflection of the ancient wisdom of Mallakhamba, blending gymnastics with yogic principles. The performance was highly memorable and received widespread appreciation from the audience.

The organizing committee was so impressed by the VKV Kallubalu Mallakhamba team’s performance that they immediately extended another invitation, requesting their participation in another upcoming event. This recognition highlighted the students’ talent and the cultural significance of Mallakhamba.
