On 1st March 2025, a delegation of Karyakarthas from Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, met and congratulated Shri Maruti Bhujangrao Chitampalli Ji on being honored with the Padma Shri Award. The delegation was led by Mananeeya Shri Bhanudasji Dhakras, All-India General Secretary of Vivekananda Kendra, and included Maharashtra Prant Pramukh Shri Abhay Bapat Ji, Maharashtra Prant Sanghatak Kum. Sujata Dalavi Didi, Maharashtra Prant Sah Sanghatak Shri Sumit Shivhare Ji, VK VAYAM Coordinator Shri Suhas Deshpande Ji, and Jule Solapur Swadhyay Varg Pramukh Shri Vedant Ganmote Ji.
Shri Maruti Bhujangrao Chitampalli Ji, revered as "Aranya Rishi" (The Forest Sage), has been honored with the Padma Shri for his lifelong contributions to literature, education, wildlife conservation, and environmental awareness.
A renowned Marathi author, wildlife researcher, and conservationist from Solapur, Shri Chitampalli Ji has authored over 20 books on forests, wildlife, and ornithology. His works, including Prani Kosh, Vruksha Kosh, and masterpieces like Pakshi Jaay Digantara and Ranvata, have educated and inspired generations. As a distinguished Forest Service Officer, he played a pivotal role in the development of key wildlife sanctuaries such as Karnala, Nagzira, and Navegaon, leaving an indelible mark on India’s conservation efforts.
During his interaction with the Vivekananda Kendra delegation, Shri Chitampalli Ji fondly recalled his visit to Kanyakumari and shared some of his experiences from exploring various forests across Bharat.
