Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Arunachal Prant, Arun Jyoti Project organized a District Level Traditional Dance and Drama Competition on 17th January 2025, starting at 9:30 a.m. The event was held at the Tribal Culture Centre, Basar, in the Lepa Rada district. A total of 120 participants actively took part in this cultural celebration.

The event began with the chanting of three Omkars and a prayer by VKV students, followed by another prayer by the MMR (Gurukul) students of Basar. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, and other dignitaries officially marked the beginning of the event.

Sri Tojum Zirdo Ji delivered the welcome address, introducing the esteemed guests. This was followed by a patriotic song performance by the VKV students, setting a patriotic and inspiring tone for the day. Smt. Geyum Riba Ji, the District Coordinator, announced the judges for the competition and explained the rules and regulations to ensure smooth proceedings. The guests and judges were felicitated by Sri Tojum Zirdo Ji.

Sri Bindi Lollen Kato Ji spoke on the significance of the day, emphasizing the importance of incorporating Swami Vivekananda’s ideals into daily life. The traditional dance competition then began, with captivating performances by the Pagi, Sago, Nyigam, and Tirbin groups. Their dances brought to life the folk tales and Galo traditions, showcasing the region's rich cultural heritage.

Sri Kento Rumi Ji provided a brief introduction to Vivekananda Kendra and its various service activities. Sri Momar Basar Ji, Secretary of IFCSAP Lepa Rada District, shared valuable insights with the participants and the audience. He highlighted the Kendra’s role as a nation-builder and its efforts in establishing Gurukul schools across various states to preserve traditions and culture.

The drama competition followed, featuring talented local artists who demonstrated their skills and creativity. Kum. Linya Riba, the event anchor, recited the Swadesh Mantra, inspiring the audience with its profound message. Er. Boku Basar Ji, EE Power Basar, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the value of perseverance and dedication in learning the Galo language.

At the end of the competitions, certificates were distributed to the district coordinators. Sri Tojum Zirdo Ji announced the results and presented prizes to the winners, recognizing their outstanding performances. Smt. Geyum Riba Ji delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, guests, and organizers for making the event a success.

The program concluded with the recitation of the Shanti Mantra by Kum. Linya Riba, followed by lunch prasad. The District Level Traditional Dance and Drama Competition was a resounding success, providing a vibrant platform for local talent and celebrating the Bharat's rich cultural heritage.
