VKV- Itanagar shines in Class XII Examination
This was the headline of a leading newspaper in Arunachal Pradesh. All the 74 students appeared in AISSSE – 2013 came out with flying colours and made record.
Splendid performance of VKVians
It was a moment of great joy to receive the phone call of Kum. Apurva Dubey who, stood in 19th Position in Civil Service Examination. Her winning will definitely boost the morale of the teachers who are working ceaselessly for the overall development of the children. She fondly remembered her teachers like Shri. K.Veluswamy, Shri.Vijay Teheraia and others. She spoke in length about her schooling days in VKV- Itanagar. Kum.Apurva, has taken some time from her busy life to be with the Karyakartas of VK International at Delhi on 6th June in which Mananeeya Rekha didi was present.
Remarkable achievement in NMMS Examination
Our students performed well in National Means – cum Merit Scholarship exam (2012-13). 62 students out of 122, selected for the Scholarship are from VKVs. The school wise list is given below:-Kudos to the successful students.
Preparation for the new academic session
To groom the teachers and Principals to make them competent and professionally equipped, we organize various programmes during the last 2 months:-
Workshop for newly inducted Principals
The team leader has a great role to perform. To equip them to deliver the best, a workshop was conducted at VKVAPT, Dibrugarh from 29th to 31st March 2013. 7 newly inducted Principals attended the workshop.
The Principal’s workshop encompassed many sessions targeted to infuse many core skills for effective management and leadership quality. The topics covered in the camp were skill of supervision, skill of communication with parents and administrative office, organizational works, skill of counseling etc. Individual sittings were also arranged and school specific strategies were chalked out.
5 days camp for Capacity Building Programme on effective school management and Leadership
Sri. Anand Mohan Mishra, Principal ,VKV Ziro and Sri Ashim Kumar Banik ,Principal , VKV Shergaon were selected and sponsored by VKVAPT to attend Capacity Building Programme on effective school management and Leadership conducted by Business Analyst Group which has been empanelled by CBSE from 14th to 18th May at Guwahati. Both were expressive about the camp and would be sharing the learning points with all the Principals shortly.
CCE Workshop by CBSE
30 teachers attended CCE Workshop conducted by CBSE on 11th May at Dony Polo Vidyaniketan, Itanagar to get oriented for the effective implementation of CCE. The main thrust area of the workshop was Formative Assessment. In addition to these, the topics like co-scholastic assessment, wider vision of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation etc were covered. I was happy to see the enthusiasm of teachers who rushed to Itanagar with a short notice even though they were in their annual vacation. Dr. Rajedra Kakade of VKV- Itanagar made commendable logist-ic support for the participants at VKV- Itanagar.
Teacher’s Orientation Camp at VKV- Itanagar
A teacher Orientation Camp was conducted at VKV- Itanagar from 27th May to 31st May 2013. 73 teachers who were inducted last academic session attended the Five days Teacher’s Orientation Camp. The camp had a good beginning with the address of Shri. Ramesh Negi, IAS, Commissioner of Finance and Home, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. He urged the teachers to respect one’s own profession. He held that teacher’s profession is the most valued profession among all because the teachers have the privilege of moulding a life as desired. There were sessions on Key skills to improve the teaching skills, Indian culture, the art of Storytelling, Class room management, Integrated Language teaching , Formative Assessment etc. Mananeeya Pravinji took two sessions on the Vision and Mission of Vivekananda Kendra. In addition to these there were model classes in all the subjects, Yoga and Geet Session.
It is worth mentioning about the contribution of all the subject resource persons, like Shri. A.M. Mishra, Shri. Ananda Dutta, Shri. Sangaram Choudhary,Shri. Jayanta Gogoi and Su..Aruna Bharali.
Workshop for PT Teachers
One day workshop was conducted at VKV- Itanagar on 31st May in which selected PT teachers attended. Preparing the sports Calendar & working out the modalities of the coaching camps and training programme were main topics of the workshop.
Academic Planner and Activity Calendar
Academic Planner and Activity Calendar for the session were prepared and send to all the schools. The planner incorporated the valuable suggestion of the teachers, parents and our elders. The target for teaching days, examinations schedule and all other events got place in the planner. This would help the teachers to make comprehensive planning for the session. It would be appropriate to note that the teachers have taken classes even in Sundays to meet the minimum working days for both the Terms.
The main highlights of the Activity calendar are coaching camps for Foot-ball, Volley- ball, Basket- Ball, Chess and Field events, Inter VKV- chess Tournament, Parents’ workshop in selected schools, Parents- Teachers Meet in the Capital schools, NTSE coaching camps, TOC for Sanskrit and Hindi, PT teachers camp, Inter VKV- Volley ball and Football Tournament etc. All the popular and effective programmes would definitely continue in this session too.
