With a vision to cultivate one million child innovators in India, Atal Innovation Mission by NITI Aayog and Government of India, envisaged a novel program – establishment of Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) in schools across the country. Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Majuli has also got this opportunity to establish such ATL under the financial support and guidance by Atal Innovation Mission.
The Inaugural program was guided by Chief Guest Dr Poran Boruah (Rtd. Director’s Grade Scientist of CSIR and Professor ACSIR ) , Sri Vaibhav Nimbalkar(SP Majuli District ), Sri Pravin Dabhokar (Joint General Secretary VK Kanyakuamri), Sri Umakanta Rajkhowa(Rtd Professor Majuli College) and Sri Naren Chandra Thakuria (Rtd Principal Majuli College) . They welcomed ATAL TINKERING LAB. in VKV Majuli, which will be benefited for the student of VKV Majuli and Majuli as a whole. In this advance growth of science and technology students can learn various kinds of hi-tech innovative ideas from it. Respected Pravinji further initiated that VKV is caring out the name of Swami Vivekananda and triggering the scientific way of learning. Moreover chief guest Dr. Poran Boruah further added in order to go for scientific study students should have a very creative and innovative mind and also talked about student’s choice in choosing his/her career. He also added now we are moving form computer literacy to robotic literacy. The lab was formally inaugurated by Sri Vaibhav Nimbalkar, SP Majuli district breaking coconut in traditional way. At last, they offered congratulation the whole family of VKV Majuli for ATAL TINKERING LAB.
After the formal inaugural programme on 25th August 2017, there was two days workshop on hand on activities, understanding the use of ATL lab for the students of nearby schools and VKV Majuli. Total 48 students and seven science teachers from nearby six schools have participated in the inaugural programme as well as workshop. The students were distributed participants certificates and prizes / trophies to selected students of Govt Schools, who has shown better performance to design and play robotics kits. There was an awareness session for the students to work in the lab and design their own innovative works.
