The full moon day in the month Ashadh of the Hindu calendar is celebrated as Guru Purnima by all Hindus. This day is celebrated as the mark of respect to the guru. It is celebrated in the sacred memory of the great sage Veda Vyasa. His father was parasara Maharishi, a great sage and his mother was Satyavati.

Veda Vyasa was the first and the greatest Acharya of Sanatana Dharma. He is responsible for classifying the four Vedas named Rig,Yajur,Sama and Atharva Veda. He also wrote 18 puranas, the great epic Mahabharata and the Srimath Bhagavath Gita. This day is also known as ‘Vyasa Purnima’. Sage Vyasa is known to be the Adi guru of the Hindu religion. The auspicious day of Vyasa purnima has a great significance,as everybody knows that the role of a guru in real life is very much essential.

The celebration was initiated with an invocation song by 7th standard girls and K.Monisha of 8th standard welcomed the gathering the importance of the day in Tamil was delivered by R.Bala Brindha,the student of XI standard,V.K.V.

Music is the most beautiful way of praising and worshipping. The students of VIII std sang a beautiful song on the guru,Veda Vyasa.

The importance of the day in English, the speech was delivered by S.I.Saadhana of IX standard.

Many people fulfilled their wish by giving financial help to the children. The students scholarship was read out by Smt.V.Geetha.Then the teachers of X and XII std were honoured for their centum result.

The Chief guest S.Krishnamani,M.A.,M.Ed, an eminent person addressed the audience. She rendered her service to our Kendra as the Principal during the academic year 1998. She expressed her views about the importance of the day. She highlighted the importance of guru who comes in our life to enlighten us. The guru always guides us in the right path. The guru is dedicated, sincere and to remember the selfless service which they do for the students. She also expressed that guru is the person, who dispels the ignorance of darkness. The guru is the representative of god. She explained about the true Bhakti of a student towards the guru through a short story named ‘Ekalavya’, the silent student of Drona. She advised the students to love their teachers, parents, atmosphere ,school  and their society.

The special guest Maa.Aparna Didi,Vivekananda Kendra,presented a memento to the honourable Chief guest.    Sister Jayakha of 9th std presented the vote of thanks. The celebration was concluded by Kendra Prayer.
