Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Keralam Prant, Guruvayur Branch, organized a Universal Brotherhood Day celebration at Saraswathy Vidyanikethan Central School, Engandiyur, on 11 September 2026, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The programme witnessed a total participation of 425, including 400 students and 25 others comprising the Principal, teachers, parents and 5 Karyakartas.

The programme commenced with Pushparchana to Bharat Mata and Swami Vivekananda, followed by Daivadasakam rendered by the students. The Principal and a teacher spoke about Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago and the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day.

Students from the Primary Section, dressed as Swami Vivekananda, presented inspiring quotes of Swamiji. Kumari Nivedya, dressed as Swami Vivekananda, presented excerpts from his historic Chicago address.

Shri Jyothivas Ji introduced the main speaker, Shri Vishnu Ji, Karyapaddhati Pramukh, Keralam Prant. Addressing the students of Classes IV to IX, Shri Vishnu Ji encouraged them to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and cultivate a spirit of brotherhood towards fellow beings as well as harmony with the environment.

As part of the celebration, competitions on Swami Vivekananda’s quotes and Chicago address had been conducted at the school two days earlier. Participation certificates were presented to 25 students, while 7 winners received books on Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
