Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor (Tamil Nadu Prant) celebrated Gokulashtami (Krishna Jeyanthi) on 8 September 2026 at the school premises. The celebration highlighted the life and teachings of Bhagavan Sri Krishna, particularly the values of love, devotion, truth and Dharma.

The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by Deepa Prajwalan by Smt. Kothai Ramakrishnan, Retired Headmistress, Nanguneri, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest; Shri Sudhir Kandhan, Former President, Rotary Club, Vallioor, the Guest of Honour; and Smt. Esakkiammal @ Devi, Principal, VKV Vallioor. Selvi Srishebiha of Class X delivered the welcome address.

The cultural programmes began with Bharatanatyam performances by the students. Shri Jeyaram Satheesh, Teacher, delivered a Tamil speech on Krishna Jeyanthi, highlighting the divine life of Sri Krishna and the values conveyed through his life and teachings. Students also presented a special Krishna-themed Bharatanatyam, depicting episodes from the life of Sri Krishna.

The celebration continued with Gita Chanting by the students, creating a devotional atmosphere. This was followed by a Rakhi-tying ceremony, symbolizing the bond of love, care and protection between brothers and sisters.

The traditional Uriyadi was another highlight of the celebration, bringing joy and enthusiasm among the students.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, teachers, parents, students and all those who contributed to the celebration, followed by Kendra Prarthana.
